We’re the Same Color is a series of repetitive interactions between myself, the blood orange, canvas, and ink. Driven by the compulsive need to capture emotion and find- ing words and language betraying and misunderstanding, I turned to my fascination with the blood orange. Delving into research surrounding non-conceptual knowledge and coupled with the psychological self-analysis, I found that it supports the acting out and- bodying of unconscious experiences the pieces have. The process of pressing the flesh of the blood orange into the canvas and creating an uncontrolled stain provides relief and a mark of the aggression that I push through, yet it is subtle and gentle as a response.
